Things to do in Seattle.
If you decide to stay awhile we recommend checking out some of the activities and dining options below.
Activities
Pike Place Market
This is an iconic Seattle activity. You can witness fish throwing, shop local art, and pick up fresh groceries or flowers. We recommend checking out Mee Sum Pastry (excellent Crab Rangoons), Piroshky Piroshky, and Chukar Cherries. You can also visit the first Starbucks, but it's not worth the line.
Whale Watching
Whales love to stop off in Puget Sound during their migrations North and South. Depending on the time of year, you can see Orca Whales, Grey Whales, Humpback Whales, and other wildlife such as birds, seals, and sea lions.
Underground Tour
Seattle was rebuilt on top of itself after the Great Fire of 1889. Remaining are tunnels and storefronts beneath the city. If you're looking for something unique that also sprinkles in some humor, this might be up your alley. There is also an adult version called The Seattle Underworld Tour - worth checking out.
Hiking
There are many trails in the Seattle area. Ensure to do your research regarding types of park passes needed and avoid busy weekend mornings/afternoons. Close to the city and highly regarded are Mailbox Peak, Rattlesnake Ledge, Snow Lake, Poo Poo Point, and Mt Si.
Food & Drink
Terra Plata
This is an excellent place for a date night with food that is approachable and delicious. We recommend the Paella, Roast Pig, or Duck Breast. They also have a lot of great cocktails.
Smith Seattle
Smith Seattle is one of our favorite brunch places in the city. You can make reservations ahead of time which is a huge bonus. Their Chicken & Waffles is always a crowd-pleaser.
Elliot’s Oyster House
Great place for lunch or dinner especially if you are looking to try some fresh Seattle seafood. It's worth giving oysters a try, but we highly recommend their chowder and salmon dishes.
Molly Moon’s Ice Cream
A locally owned delicious ice cream store with many locations throughout the Seattle area. They always have some seasonal flavors and pride themselves on using pacific northwest ingredients.
Soi
There is a ton of great Asian food in Seattle, but Soi is one of our personal favorites. Authentic but approachable Thai food is their specialty. We recommend the Peek Gai Panang and Khao Soi.
Linda’s Tavern
If you're looking for a chill Seattle bar, look no further than Linda's Tavern in Capitol Hill. They have a very relaxed atmosphere and even an outdoor patio space.
